What are NanoLaserPeels and MicroLaserPeels?

The MicroLaserPeel and NanoLaserPeel harness light energy to remove the skin’s top layers at a depth that also accelerates the skin’s own renewal process. Both the NanoLaserPeel and the MicroLaserPeel are superior because they have the precision to work at just the right depth, creating beautifully smooth and luminous skin. Best of all, our team can customize the treatment to your specific skin conditions and desired outcome.

What are the Differences Between NanoLaserPeels and MicroLaserPeels?

While very similar, each laser differs in terms of depth and recovery. Whereas the MicroLaserPeel is 10-100 microns deep, the NanoLaserPeel penetrates less than ten microns. This difference in depth lets each laser address different skin issues. However, it also means that the MicroLaserPeel’s recovery may be longer. Marmur Medical offers both types of laser peels to provide our patients with the broadest range of treatment and recovery options. We will help you find which laser is most suitable for your needs.

How do NanoLaserPeels and MicroLaserPeels Work?

Our team will carefully scan a concentrated beam over the skin to remove a very thin outer layer. Removing the top layer eliminates damaged skin cells that often give the skin an aged and tired look. As the skin heals, new cells grow, resurfacing and revitalizing the treated area. The result is healthier-looking skin, often with reduced wrinkles and improved color evenness. Patients often say that it looks like their skin went from looking tired to vibrant.

How Long Will It Take to Recover from a New York City Laser Peel?

Your recovery depends on the depth of the peel you’ve chosen. For MicroLaserPeel patients, most patients feel comfortable returning to work within 3-4 days. We call this treatment a “weekend peel” because healing up over the weekend is usually all it takes for patients to be ready to go back to work. Redness may persist for up to ten days in some patients. For patients who decide on the lesser-invasive NanoLaserPeel, recovery typically only lasts for 12-24 hours, and patients can return to work quickly.

New York City Laser Peel and Deep Laser Resurfacing FAQ

One of the most significant advantages of NanoLaserPeels and MicroLaserPeels is that they cause very minimal discomfort. This is primarily because they penetrate the skin at optimal depths. At the shallowest settings, most people can tolerate treatment with no anesthetic at all. At deeper settings, a topical numbing cream is typically used.

Most MicroLaserPeel patients notice an obvious enhancement in color evenness, tone, and texture once the skin heals in approximately 3-4 days. For patients who have chosen NanoLaserPeel, results can be seen in 12-24 hours.

Many patients notice that the skin has a “frosty” appearance due to dehydrated skin peeling away. This flaky skin will peel away over the next several days. Patients may also experience redness, a sunburn-like sensation, and mild swelling. This is normal, and our team will give you a set of aftercare instructions to manage your recovery in the best way.

As your skin will be sensitive to UV light after a laser peel, you will need to avoid direct sun exposure until you’ve healed properly. We recommend wearing sun-protective clothing and sunscreen to prevent sun damage. Our experts will help you find the right products to choose from when we meet with you in person.

Avoid strenuous exercises or activities for at least the first 24-48 hours following your laser peel or deep laser resurfacing. Exercising and sweating can cause skin to overheat, itch, and become irritable.

Most laser peel or deep laser resurfacing treatments have little downtime. Your specific recovery and comfort level will depend on your procedure. For NanoLaserPeel patients, redness like that of a sunburn may last for 12-24 hours. For MicroLaserPeel patients, redness and tenderness can last for 3-4 days.

Most NanoLaserPeel and MicroLaserPeel treatments typically take 30 minutes. However, your treatment time will depend upon the size of the treated area. Your skin will be cleansed, and topical anesthetics can be applied if necessary; however, most patients find the treatment relatively painless.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning, or self-tanning products for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Two weeks prior to treatment, stop using retinol or glycolic acid products. You should avoid alcohol, aspirin, or other blood-thinning medications or supplements a week prior to treatment. Patients with darker skin tones or pigmentation issues may need to pretreat for 4-6 weeks prior to their procedure.

Generally, we suggest patients avoid wearing makeup for at least 24-48 hours following a NanoLaserPeel. MicroLaserPeel patients should avoid wearing makeup for 3-4 days, or until your skin has healed.

Typically, the results of a NanoLaserPeel or MicroLaserPeel can last from 6-12 months. Of course, the length your results lasts will depend upon how careful you are about sun protection and skin care.

Most patients are good candidates for NanoLaserPeel or MicroLaserPeel treatments. Good candidates include patients who are concerned about fine lines, dull skin tone, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, or enlarged pores. However, patients who are pregnant or who have an active skin infection may not be suitable candidates.

The cost of your laser peel or deep laser skin resurfacing will depend on the factors of your unique situation—what laser we use, how long the procedure will take, how many treatments we recommend, etc. We’ll work with you to find the best plan and price for your situation.
