Everything You Need to Know to Take Care of Your Skin Post-Laser Treatment

Lasers are powerful tools for rejuvenating your complexion. Though laser resurfacing is a non-invasive procedure, the healing process takes time, and skin requires special care following a laser treatment. At Marmur Medical, we offer many laser treatments that will leave your skin looking fresh and new — here are some tips to help you care for your skin post-laser treatment!

Laser Treatments

Smoother, clearer, more radiant skin is waiting for you. With little to no downtime, laser treatments offer an excellent method of treating skin tone and texture issues, brown spots, lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and more.

At Marmur Medical, we offer the following laser treatments:

Take a Break

Even though laser skin treatments are non-invasive, the outer layer of your skin will still peel off, so you may not feel ready for a public appearance. Taking a recovery day to rest and avoid stress may be a good idea before jumping back into the daily routine.

Beat the Heat

Avoid exposing your skin to hot temperatures for two to three days after your laser treatment. Instead of showering or bathing in hot water, try lukewarm water for your cleansing needs. Also, avoid saunas, steam rooms, or hot tubs.

Another way to beat the heat is to use cold compresses. These are an effective way to reduce heat and redness following laser treatments.

Keep It Clean

Following your laser treatment, our experts will recommend a personalized cleansing routine based on your treatment and your skin’s condition. It may include cleansing your face four to five times a day. Take extra precautions by using only mild, gentle cleansers and avoiding exfoliants, astringents, or retinol or benzoyl peroxide products.

Stay Hydrated

Hydration is an essential element for healthy skin at any time, but after a laser treatment, hydration is vital. Keep your skin hydrated with doctor-recommended products as often as suggested. Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and nourish your skin from the inside out.

Avoid UV Exposure

Following your laser treatment, avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds, for at least for a month. Protect your skin with plenty of sunscreen if you must be outside.

Go Au Naturel

After your laser treatment, don’t wear makeup for four to five days. If you insist on wearing cosmetics before your skin heals, make sure to use all-new products to minimize infection risks. After your recovery, be sure to use clean brushes and tools every time.
